Green Wood Crafts
Interesting or valuable wood is put aside for green wood crafts. These include large rustic style gates and hurdles to smaller products hand turned on our pole lathes. We run courses twice a year and we make items from CAT’s own and local sustainably grown wood. See our Woodland courses section for details about all CAT courses.

Gate hurdles
These robust hurdles are made from locally grown cleft ash (Fraxinus excelsior). Measuring 4ft by 6ft and in the Sussex style these sturdy hurdles are useful and attractive. |

Rustic garden gates
Made of cleft ash and clenched nails, these can be made to any size and requirement. |

Rounders bats
These bats are turned from ash (Fraxinus excelsior) or willow (Salix spp.) and are great for game on the beach. |

Honey spoons
These unique honey spoons are made from sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) or field maple (Acer campestre) which is the traditional wood for kitchen utensils as it does not impart or absorb flavour. |

Garden dibbers Made from a variety of different woods these dibbers are notched at inch intervals as a depth gauge to aid planting. |

Turned insects and animals A really fun present for children, these lathe turned bugs and insects have holes drilled in them ready for their twig legs and antennas. They can be painted too!

Turned from cleft ash in a variety of sizes to re-handle chisels and other tools. |
